New Drugstore Haul | August 2016

Happy Summer, everybody — I sincerely apologize for the delay, a lot has been going on and I haven’t had a lot of time to catch up on here with moving with the Hubby and a new job! (hooray!)

I picked up a few new things from the drugstore over the weekend (some repeats and some recommendations) to try out. I have been doing my best to branch out and purchase items that I really wanted to try or have heard about. Where I am now, it can get really hot so I am hoping to find some drugstore products to last all day and withstand the dry heat.

Rimmel London Stay Matte Primer in 003 – (1 fl. oz./30mL) “Use alone, under or over makeup” I thoroughly believe in using a primer anytime you want to apply make up because it provides a nice and smooth base for your foundation, concealer and powder. I hope that this will work well with the matte foundation in this haul to keep my oily skin at bay!

E.L.F. Studio Lip Exfoliator in Clear – (0.16 oz/4.4g) I have never used a Lip Exfoliator and I am really curious to see how this will work/if it will help improve the condition of my lips. I tend to have issues with chapped and flaking lips after I use different lip glosses or lipsticks so I wanted to try this particular product out.

E.L.F. Studio Eyebrow Kit in Medium – (0.13 oz/3.7g) Again, this a product that is completely new to me, as I have never really attempted to fill in or do my eyebrows (aside from getting them waxed every so often). I may or may not have to rely on some video tutorials on how to achieve natural looking brows and I am hoping to master this technique!

Covergirl Katy Kat Matte Lipstick/Katy Perry Collection in KP09 Maroon Meow (.12oz/3.5g) [recommended by my darling girlfriend Shifa <3] – I saw one of my friends wear this particular shade in a Snap and/or on Instagram and I instantly texted to her to find out what brand and shade it was! 🙂 I typically do not gravitate towards Matte lipsticks due to the fact that my lips tend to be flaky and I have an obsession with chapstick so I am so excited to try out this formula and color. If all goes well, this gorgeous berry color may be my favorite Fall shade!

Covergirl Katy Kat Matte Lipstick/Katy Perry Collection in KP10 Catoure (.12oz/3.5g) – This shade is similar to the Lip Balm also in this haul, and would typically be a shade that I would purchase. I think that this pinky/nude shade will transition perfectly from Summer to Fall and I’ll also be able to wear it everyday and to work. I am really excited to try these out! Can I also say that I am so obsessed with the packaging and the incorporation of cats in the shade name and design?!

NYX Butter Lip Balm in BLB08 Brownie (0.14oz/4g) – I can’t remember if I’ve seen many swatches of these particular lip balms but this is right up my alley! I love the easy application and I think this will be really easy to toss in an everyday makeup bag/easy to travel with. I hope that this formula is really moisturizing and smooth like the name suggests and that it can be incorporated into my makeup routine!

Maybelline FIT Me! Foundation in 310 Sun Beige (1 fl.oz./30mL) – I believe that I have used this formula before (hello oily skin + hot temperatures/sun) and I liked it! I opted to go for a slightly different shade and I am hoping that this is the one. I really enjoy having a matte foundation to help balance out my oily t-zone and to be able to lightly apply a layer under my setting powder will hopefully not clog my pores up too much.

What are some of your favorite drugstore items that you’ve found this month? I would love to read about them!

Winter/Spring Transition Outfit Ideas | 2016

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! In lieu of transitioning from Winter into Spring, I thought it would be appropriate to write a post featuring some of the outfits that I have worn as the weather is getting warmer! I apologize for the delay as I have been really busy with a recent move of my own to a warmer climate! [hooray for the desert! :)]

Here are a few outfit ideas that feature a new addition to my wardrobe (White Converse):

Outfit 1 | Dreaming of Chanel in Hollywood – I wore this outfit when I was in L.A. recently and I was so excited to wear this gorgeous pink tweed jacket from the Limited (from their Scandal Collection)! I also paired this statement jacket with a dressy navy blue tank (also from the Limited), Forever 21 skinny jeans, white converse sneakers (new obsession) and a black crossover bag from Nordstrom. I loved this combination between dressy and casual and I wore it sightseeing and also to dinner at SUR (Vanderpump Rules!) later that night.

Outfit 2 | Blanket Scarves Forever – This is the blanket scarf that I featured in my previous blog post from Old Navy and it is so comfortable! For this look, I tied the ends of the scarf together to make it an infinity scarf and paired it with black skinny jeans from Forever 21, white converse sneakers and the watch from Charming Charlie also from my previous blog post. I am always looking for new ways to style the blanket scarf so I am excited to see what I can find.IMG_7095

Outfit 3 | Springing Forward with Color – This outfit is a little bit of a combination with the navy blue tank top in my first outfit paired with a really fun mint green and gold statements necklace to add a pop of color. I wore this outfit to brunch with some friends and I loved the versatility with my light cardigan, skinny jeans and sneakers. I am always trying different color combinations and I think Spring is a great time to experiment with pastels and neutrals.

Outfit 4 | Cozying Up with Neutrals – I also wore this outfit to brunch and had a lot of fun adding some sparkle to this outfit with this statement necklace from Ann Taylor. I love this light striped cardigan that I picked up from a Gap outlet store and I think that it will pair really nicely with a lot of different tops. I also wanted to wear these new slip on sneakers from Payless as an alternative to my converse. IMG_7097

Overall, I am excited to try out some new colors and trends as Spring is right around the corner. What are some of your favorite Spring wardrobe staples?

December Favorites | 2015

Happy December, friends!

I wanted to share a few things that I picked up this month and have been loving so far:

Yes Please by Amy Poehler | I have heard so many great things about this book and I was so excited to start reading it. I love the format of the book and it is unique in the way that it incorporates some of her personal pictures within the text. I can’t wait to finish this book and I am imagining each word as read by Amy herself.

Gold and Navy Watch – Charming Charlie | I picked this watch up on Black Friday and I couldn’t resist the style and color of this watch. I love the sleek and modern look of the watch and it feels very sturdy. They also offer to resize your watch [for free] after your purchase and they also give you the kit should you need it down the line, which is awesome! I have been loving wearing this watch a lot recently and it goes with everything.

Plaid Blanket Scarf – Old Navy | I also scored this purchase on Black Friday and I am so in love with this scarf. It is so warm and it is long enough that you can wear it multiple ways (knotting the ends and wearing it as an infinity scarf has been a favorite look of mine as of late). This was such a great deal and I have been loving layering this scarf with multiple outfits!

White and Rose Gold Stone Necklace – Icing | I received this necklace (along with some super cute matching earrings from a good friend of mine for my birthday – thank you!) and I have a  lot of fun pairing it with different outfits during the work week and on the weekends. The white stones have some shimmer mixed in so when it catches the light, you truly get to see the unique stones in action.

Grey Beats Solo 2 On-Ear Headphones – Target | This is my first pair of Beats headphones and I couldn’t be happier! These truly are a travel necessity and the sound quality is amazing. I used these on a plane ride recently and it really helped to block out a lot of the noise. I love that they are adjustable and extremely comfortable. I would definitely recommend these as a gift or for yourself!

Bonus: this beautiful marble table (it has a rose gold stand) is a new addition to my home office and I am so obsessed!

What are some of your favorites for this month? I would love to read about them!

Casual/Weekend Outfits! | Fall 2015

Happy Sunday, I updated the theme and I hope you like it! I wanted to try something new for the blog. 🙂 Today I’m going to be sharing some of my favorite looks that I have worn on the weekends or on a casual Friday at work. With Fall, I love layering and adding in some fun colors and patterns (as you will see the same necklace, scarf and purse re-styled in these outfits). Here are some of my recent/favorite looks so far:

Outfit 1 | Flannel Friday — I love a great flannel shirt and this one is a bargain! I had a lot of fun mixing this over-sized Men’s flannel shirt from Walmart with a slimmer silhouette/skinny jeans and paired with some high heeled ankle booties. This look features tan suede ankle booties (with a fringe detail on the side) from (from my awesome sister 🙂 ), Forever 21 skinny jeans and moto-style jacket, Walmart flannel shirt (one of the comfiest that I own and less than $10!), gold and black triangle necklace from Express and my white and hold Michael Kors watch.

Outfit 2 | Comfy and neutral — I wore this out to brunch and I wanted to wear something comfortable and something I could eat a lot in ;). For this look, I wore riding boots from Payless, Forever 21 skinny jeans, a black long sleeved key hole top from Ann Taylor, a camel colored quarter sleeved open cardigan from Banana Republic, a multi-tone necklace from Express, my white and gold Michael Kors watch and cross-body bag from Nordstrom. I have been obsessed with adding pops of gold for this season!

Outfit 3 | My favorite cable knit sweater — This super warm wool sweater from Loft is one of my favorite pieces for the Fall and Winter seasons! This look features cognac riding boots and skinny boots from Forever 21, an off white sweater from Loft, navy and gold polka dot scarf from Ann Taylor and a cross-body bag from Nordstrom. I feel like you can never go wrong with a chunky sweater and your favorite boots!

Outfit 4 | All about that Marsala — I wore this for casual Friday and I am so in love with anything in this shade for Fall/Winter. This features patent leather flats from Target, Forever 21 skinny jeans, Marsala pleated top and blazer from Ann Taylor and my multi-tone necklace from Express. I know that I will re-wear this top over and over with different pants and skirts to play up the fun color!

Outfit 5 | Boyfriend cardigan — Also reusing one of my favorite scarves by turning it into an infinity scarf (tying the ends together) to add some coordinating colors to this outfit! This look features riding boots from Target, ponte pants and scarf from Ann Taylor, boyfriend style cardigan from Marshalls and my trusted cross-body bag from Nordstrom. I love how comfortable this outfit was and it was perfect for running errands (while staying warm and able to move)!

What are some of your favorite items in your closet for Fall?

Work Outfits | Fall 2015 Edition

Happy November, friends! I have decided to round up some of my favorite outfits that I have recently worn to the office. I tried to include a mix of patterns and colors but as you can see, my work wardrobe rotates around a few staples from my closet (black blazers, pants, accessories etc). With the colder months approaching, I am working on transitioning different pieces to create some new looks!

Outfit 1 | Nautical Button Up Favorite — This look features black patent leather flats from Target, Forever 21 pants, blue and white striped shirt and navy tote bag/purse from Ann Taylor, black/white/gray statement necklace from Walmart and my trusted white and gold Michael Kors watch. I typically do not tuck in my tops but I really love the look of this buttoned up/collared shirt with a slim silhouette/pant.

Outfit 2 | Mixing up prints and patterns — I wanted to try to mix strips and polka dots in a subtle way, so I opted for this look! This look features some of the most comfortable flats from Payless Shoe Source, black ponte pants, a white keyhole crepe top, black and white wool polka dot cardigan, striped scarf all from Ann Taylor along with my silver Pandora charm bracelet. This outfit was definitely very comfortable and I am always for versatility in the office when it comes to the unpredictable office temperatures.

Outfit 3 | Navy and gray — This look features flats from Payless Shoe Source, Forever 21 pants, a sleeveless navy top from the Limited, a gray blazer from the Lauren Conrad collection at Kohl’s, a gold bar necklace from Ann Taylor Factory and a gold bangle from Ann Taylor. I loved mixing the navy with pops of gold, which may be one of my favorite combinations! I have been loving this gray blazer and incorporating into different looks. It’s a great option to a black blazer.

Outfit 4 | Black and White — I went to one of my go-to bases for an outfit and a new necklace that I picked up to spice up this look. It features riding boots from Target, ponte pants and blazer from Ann Taylor, black and gold triangle necklace and Portofino shirt from Express and my white and gold Michael Kors Watch. I loved adding the pops of gold (I’ll admit, again!) to this look and I wanted to add some edge with the boots and statement necklace.

Outfit 5 | Floral and lace love — I will forever love florals and lace! I had a lot of fun with this look and I thought that this floral scarf would be a fun addition to the lace top under my jacket. This look features flats from Payless, Forever 21 pants and floral scarf, and an off white lace top and fitted blazer from Ann Taylor. I wanted to try and incorporate some fun floral prints to a go-to look.

What are some of your favorite work/office staples?

Marc Jacobs Eye Shadow Palette | Style Eye-Con No. 7 Plush Shadow

Happy November, lovelies! I have reached into my makeup collection and I came across this Marc Jacobs eye shadow palette that I received as a gift from a family friend and I am so excited to swatch these colors for you! This palette is one of eight palettes that are available and the palettes range from more neutral shades like this one to more bold shades.

This palette features a super sleek and slim design that is very easy to travel with and can be incorporated into your everyday make up looks. It has a great range of neutral colors that can be used on their own or along with some of your other favorite eye shadows. The palette retails for $59.00 and it can be found online at the Marc Jacobs website (linked above). The color payoff and pigmentation is great and each shadow is very easy to apply. I love using this palette! Here are the shades from left to right:

  1. A pale camel shade (matte) — this would be a great color for all over the lid or as a highlight color under your brow bone.
  2. A darker camel/tan color (matte) — a great color for blending colors in your crease
  3. An espresso/chocolate brown (matte) — perfect for adding dimension in your crease and outer v, and also to line your lower lash line to add some smokiness
  4. Gold shimmer shadow — a gold based shadow with some larger gold glitter to add extra shine that would be a great choice for applying in the center of your lid
  5. A peachy/pink opalescent shadow — a unique shadow that would be a great base color to pair with a darker pink or neutral brown shade for a day time smokey eye
  6. Mid-tone gold shadow — a beautiful and opaque shadow that would also be a great base color to create a smokey eye or a holiday look with some extra shimmer
  7. An antique bronze/gold shadow — a great shadow to apply to the crease to emphasize a gold smokey eye or even to add some extra shimmer to the center of your lid

Overall, I thoroughly enjoy this palette and it is a unique find! This is a nice introduction to this high end (non-drugstore brand) and I am really impressed with the quality of the eye shadows and sturdy yet sleek packaging. The mix of matte and shimmer shadows make this palette versatile and a great addition to your makeup collection!

New Beauty Favorites | October 2015

Happy Fall, everybody!

I apologize for the lack of delay, this summer/recent months have been so crazy busy with work and my wedding! 🙂 I wanted to share a few goodies that I picked up since I have recently used up these makeup essentials. I was looking for items that will help combat oil/shininess and to hopefully last throughout the work day and weekend! Here is what I decided to try:

Maybelline Fit me! Foundation Matte + Poreless and Normal to Oily (shade 220 Natural Beige) — 1 fl. oz./.30mL | Mattifies and refines pores. I am excited to try this foundation as remaining heat and humidity are not good for my oily skin! Paired with a good primer, I think that this foundation will help combat the oil from the day and I am curious to see if it will oxidize and match my skin tone.

Hard Candy Sheer Envy Primer (Ultra Light Formula) — 1.6 oz./45g | Ultra light face primer; prolongs makeup wear  and evens skin tones. The back reads: Lightweight primer creates a flawless canvas for smooth makeup application while extending the wear of makeup. I always recommend wearing a primer under any foundation or under your makeup, just to help smooth everything out when you are applying the rest of your makeup. I’m excited to try this one out! I have used Hard Candy products in the past so I am interested to see how it works.

CoverGirl Lashblast Clump Crusher Mascara — 0.44 fl. oz. in Very Black | I have always been a fan of the various Lashblast Mascaras, as I’ve tried and used the Lashblast Fusion and Lashblast Volume versions, and I have not been disappointed! I think that these mascaras are great to have in your collection and are very affordable. I usually gravitate towards mascaras that help with volume, as I have very sparse lashes. i am excited to start using this everyday!

Hard Candy Glamoflauge Lite Blendable Concealer Duo — 5.2g/0.0184 oz. in 756 Medium Light | I am always in need of a great concealer and I have heard so many great things about the Hard Candy Glamoflauge line. I really like that you are able to blend this concealer, as I find that working the concealer and dabbing gently with your fingers gives you the coverage that you want without tugging or pulling your skin. I’m interested to see how each end will swatch and what combination will be good to cover my skin imperfections (hello undereye bags!).

bareMinerals Lipgloss — 4.2 mL/0.14 fl. oz. in Sangria | This is a really gorgeous neutral/light pink shade with some very fine gold shimmer within the gloss. The lipgloss tube has a great weight and has a handle/top that is easy to grip. It also feature a brush applicator and it has just the right amount of tackiness/stickiness.

bareMinerals Lipgloss — 4.2 mL/0.14 fl. oz. in Sugar Plum | I was really excited about this color, as I am really trying to branch out and try out some darker and more berry tone lip colors for Fall! This color is a beautiful berry shade also with a fine gold shimmer and I am so excited to incorporate this into my makeup routine!

Bonus: bareMinerals Travel Bag | I received this as a free gift at the bareMinerals outlet store when I purchased the lipglosses and I’m all about convenience! I’m excited to use this on my next trip, as it has 3 detachable zipper pouches that are clear (super convenient to see all of your beautiful makeup/beauty products) and it is pretty compact.

What are some of your favorite make up products? I would love to read about them down below!
